Join us as we welcome four poets, Josh Kalscheur, Elizabeth T Gray Jr, Rachel Eliza Griffiths, and Alicia Jo Rabins, for a special night of poetry celebrating their new works.
Josh Kalscheur's new book Tidal is the winner of the Four Way Books Levis Prize in Poetry. He has published poems in Boston Review, Slate, jubilat, Ninth Letter,Witness, Blackbird and Best New Poets 2013, among others. A graduate of Saint Olaf College and UW-Madison, he teaches classes at both UW-Madison and Madison College in Madison, Wisconsin.
Elizabeth T. Gray, Jr.'s new book is Series | India. She is a poet, translator, and corporate consultant. She has published translations from classical and contemporary Persian and is currently collaborating on the translation of a Tibeto-Mongolian oral folk epic. She has a BA and JD from Harvard University and an MFA from Warren Wilson College.
Rachel Eliza Griffiths is a poet and visual artist whose new book is Lighting the Shadow. She is the recipient of fellowships including Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, Vermont Studio Center, Millay Colony, and the Cave Canem Foundation. Griffiths is the creator and director of P.O.P (Poets on Poetry), a video series of contemporary poets featured by the Academy of American Poets. Her third collection of poetry, Mule & Pear, was selected for the 2012 Inaugural Poetry Award by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association. Currently, Griffiths teaches creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College and lives in Brooklyn.
Alicia Jo Rabins's poetry manuscript, Divinity School, was awarded the 2015 American Poetry Review/Honickman First Book Prize and will be published in September. Alicia's chapbook, The Girl Who Wants to be a Landscape, was selected by Mary Oliver for the Artscape Poetry Prize and published in 1995. Alicia holds a MFA in Poetry from Warren Wilson College and is the recipient of a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace Grant, LMCC's Sarah Verdone Writing Award, and the New Delta Review 2013 Matt Clark Poetry Prize as well as three years of scholarships to Bread Loaf Writers Conference.
